What to Expect:

To determine if Yoga Therapy with Maury is right for you, the first time we will meet will be during a 15- 20 minutes Complimentary Initial Consultation. During this complimentary session, we will discuss what has led you to seek Yoga Therapy and conclude if you are ready to book your first session.
In your first session, the Initial Intake Session, I will conduct a thorough assessment and intake to understand your current physical condition, lifestyle, and health history. This will help me design a Yoga Therapy program that aligns with your goals and needs. I encourage you to ask any questions or express any concerns or desires you may have along the way during this first session. I am here to listen, guide, and support you in your quest for better health. Together we will create a session plan based on your needs.

Subsequent sessions will involve a combination of yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation, dietary and lifestyle recommendations to help you achieve your desired outcomes. Here we take the goals we have established together and begin to engage in the therapeutic techniques of Yoga, including but not limited to: breathwork (pranayama), meditation, visualization, use of affirmations, diet/lifestyle changes or suggestions, physical postures (asanas), fascial manipulations/massage.
After our first session and in between sessions, we will also work on:
-
Follow-ups — As these practices become introduced to you, I will be offering suggestions and following up throughout our meetings together.
-
Designating a space — While engaging in the therapeutic practices of yoga it will be helpful to designate a specific place and time for your practices, preferably where you will not be disturbed. We'll work together to determine what that space is for you, what it looks like and make sure it's equipped with everything you need to make your yoga therapy as tailored for your experience as possible.
-
Maintain a record of your experiences — I will ask you to maintain written account of your experiences, even just a few short lines, indicating your takeaway. This will help you keep track and be able to see the progress and it will help me understand your needs better with each session and continue build on our time together.
-
Practice, practice, practice — Ideally, we would meet at least once or more per week, with two additional sessions dedicated to the practices offered to you, so practicing at least three or four times per week will be best. We can discuss what that practice looks like outside of our sessions and I can recommend exercises to fit your lifestyle.
-
Incremental shifts and progress —Since yoga as therapy requires some shifts in lifestyle, we will make these shifts incrementally so as to better ease the changes needed to facilitate maximal health along our journey together. We can discuss expectations and goals to make you feel the progress and growth every step of the way.
